Wow, what a week. I got back from Australia maybe the most inspired I’ve ever been. It’s hard to believe we’ve only been home 8 days- it feels like months already.
Anyway: Have you even seen the movie about Karl Lagerfeld? (http://www.lagerfeldconfidentiel.com/index.cfm?lng=en) There’s this part, which was like a lightbulb marking the most relevant thing I could have heard in my first few days back, where he says that Photography is just as important to him as Fashion. Fashion is his job, which he loves, but it’s one of the things he loves. I couldn’t agree more. I don’t know that I’ll ever be just a photographer, or just an artist, or just an employee of one of the most awesome organizations ever. My love is compartmentalized, and together, I am whole.
The articulation of this makes me so excited. Because I LOVE my art. And I LOVE taking photos. And I LOVE the work I do at Twitter. As well as my husband and my family and friends - and the brunches and lunches that make life amazing. And those tangibles like old photos and glitter. I want to make things- I want to make pretty fun things.
